TERM 1 CLASS DESCRIPTIONS-

 

Beginners Belly Dance: 

Suited to students with little or no previous training in belly dance, and experienced dancers looking to expand their knowledge of movement. This is a solid introduction to Middle Eastern music and dance that focuses on correct dance posture, foundation movements and basic combinations.

Intermediate Belly Dance:

Term 1 will focus on technique with the development of more complex and layered movements. You can expect to learn impressive layered shimmies and undulations as well as many fantastic traveling movements and combinations.

Advanced Belly Dance:

This class focuses on improving technique to a higher level and equipping students with the performance skills necessary to enter the profession with confidence. Term 1 for 2012 will focus on developing skills in the traditional cane dance (Saidi) and learning a new and dynamic choreography!

Bellydance workshops for beginner to advanced level dancers are on this Summer!  

BACK TO BASICS

This workshop is suited to absolute beginners and students wishing to refine or revisit the foundation movements of bellydance.

The workshop will also cover important dance practice including correct posture, exercises to strengthen and define isolated movements, understanding the various rhythmic patterns, and music interpretation.

VINTAGE ORIENTALE

Master the sensual and alluring style of vintage Hollywood bellydancing!

Inspired by the most prominent Egyptian dancers of the time such as Fifi Abdo, Tahia Carioca and Samia Gamal, we will learn a choreography as well as discuss the elegant costuming and music of the era.

Dress-ups are most welcome!

Luscious Layering Workshop 25th September 2011!

  This workshop will focus on layering fundamental belly dance movements.

Layering is the next step in technical belly dance proficiency and is a valuable skill for interpreting different instruments, melodies and rhythms.

The workshop will cover lots of impressive layered shimmies, as well as layered undulations and traveling movements.

Ekaterini will also teach a new dynamic drum solo incorporating the movements learned. This can be performed solo or in a troupe!
